A bit of inspiration

If you develop a pure and sincere motivation, if you are motivated by a wish to help on the basis of kindness, compassion, and respect, then you can carry on any kind of work, in any field, and function more effectively. -Dalai Lama

This week I have felt overwhelmed by how much I will have to juggle as a teacher. I worry about meeting the learning needs of all of the students; it is such an awesome responsibility. This quotation helps me to put things into perspective. If I approach teaching with a sincere compassion to help each student, then it will translate in my practice. I hope that I never lose my determination to reach all of my students. Perhaps I will keep a copy of this quotation close at hand so I can view it each day.

Please share with me quotations that inspire you.

  1. Here's mine by Ralph Waldo Emerson: “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” It's on my office wall as a daily reminder that I have to rely on my abilities as an educator and know that the decisions I make are the ones which I must live with forever. My personal faith, beliefs, and morals are at the forefront of my thinking.
